MARCH 2012…
SLIPPER MAKING FOR ALL! AT SUTTON HOUSE (NATIONAL TRUST)

Thursdays and Saturdays 10, 15, 24, 29 March 1.00 - 4.30 pm
It’s nothing short of a dream come true for us. We’ve been invited by National Trust property, Sutton House in Hackney to ‘bring the house to life’ this March with our slipper making workshops.
Join us at this incredible venue - the oldest residential building in Hackney, built in 1535 and home to successive merchants, sea captains, Huguenot silk weavers, Victorian schoolmistresses and Edwardian clergy - for a memorable afternoon of crafting!
From our base in the great hall, we have permission to roam the house to find a cosy spot to spend our afternoon slipper making. What’s more, the beautiful Tudor fireplaces will be lit for the occasion, adding to the feeling of being in our very own period drama - you needn’t dress the part though! ;)

A truly unique experience for just £30. Book your spot for this event through our big cartel store NOW!
About the workshop: You will learn how to make a cosy pair of slippers using felted woollen jumper and off cuts of quality sheep fleece. Take away patterns for sizes 2-12 at the end so you can make more!
Here are some of the slippers people have made on previous workshops…

Some of the nice things people have said about the workshop…
If you’d told me I would have that much fun making a pair of slippers I wouldn’t have believed you, but that was such a nice way to spend an afternoon. And my Dad is delighted with them! David Warwick
……………
I recommend this workshop highly. Two lovely girls helping you to make great slippers in only a few hours. I made some at a previous workshop and had a great time! Rose Hall
…………..
I had a craft age of minus 28 yet still managed to make glorious slippers thanks to the masterful and marvellous Merry Bobbins. Do give it a go! Elena Polisano

We were so thrilled to have had uber marmalade making enthusiast, and retired nurse, Mary McDowall along for a special one-off Sunday workshop held in the lovely country kitchen at Exmouth Market Centre, on Exmouth Market.
Eight people joined us in a marmalade adventure on 12th Feb, which ended in them all happily carrying home a pretty trawl of 5 jars each filled with variously flavoured marmalades, plus recipes and lists for future batches!

With over 30 years experience in jam and marmalade making, we hope to tempt Mary back to teach another class soon. Watch this space! Thanks to everyone who came! x

JANUARY 2012…
SLIPPER MAKING SUNDAYS AT BLACK TRUFFLE

Kicking things off for 2012, we were please to set up home at award winning indie shoe shop, Black Truffle on Broadway Market for a month of slipper making!
For four Sundays in a row it was a treat turning the backroom and some of the shop into a hive of slipper making activity. We laughed each time a customer bravely asked us if we made all the shoes in the shop. Well, it did look a lot like a scene out of ‘Elves and the Shoemaker’! More on our elfing here.
